When did you decide to start your business, and why?
Last year I decided to move away from serving the tri-state market to serving my home community. But after spending my entire career managing in a corporate environment, I was not ready to give up all the support and coordination that came along with it. So, with a bit of hard work and careful negotiating, I was able to open a business in the Oyster Bay community on January 1st 2018. I intend for my business to be a staple of the Oyster Bay community, as it creates more local jobs, provides education opportunities for young adults, and supports the good intentions of local charities.
If you had to describe your business in three words, what would they be?
Community-oriented, co-conscious, problem-solver.
How did you get into this business?
I started my career with Target/RadioShack at the age of 18 and within 3 months, I became their youngest store manager. My promotion to management started me down a path where my business knowledge grew to match my passion for business. After spending four years with Target/RadioShack, I needed more strategic growth, exciting challenges, and more responsibility.
Samsung USA corporate had been pursing me for over a year when I finally gave in and accepted their offer to serve as their district manager for the northeast market. There I learned a lot about the wireless industry and my love for the business continued to grow each day.
One day I was passing through town to meet a client and noticed a T-Mobile location had opened. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the previous owner was an old friend of mine who was looking to sell his business. I don’t know exactly how to put it in to words, but I felt it was the right step for me to purchase the business. I think it has a lot to do with how I feel when I am in the town of Oyster Bay. I want to be apart of this community by helping it grow, have someone they can count on, and at the end of the day have a reliable wireless solutions provider.
What is something that the average Oyster Bay resident wouldn’t know about you?
I am a die hard Marvel Cinematic Universe fan and can name every Easter Egg in every movie off the top of my head. So much so that I will give a free iPhone to anyone that can name a Marvel Ester Egg that I don’t already know. Consider it a win-win challenge to your readers.
What is your favorite thing about working in Oyster Bay?
Easily it would have to be the people that live here. The community is so supportive and my fellow businesses are always willing to help each other grow. I feel having the right support and team will lead anyone to having a successful business.
What do you want people visiting Oyster Bay for the first time to know about you and your business?
We are not like the other stores out there, my team and I are focused on helping everyone regardless of who their wireless carrier is. We welcome people to walk in with even the smallest tasks, or to ask the most detailed questions. We don't care how small the task or question is, if it is wireless related you don't have to go far for help. We will more than gladly spend an hour showing you all the neat features of the new phone you bought last week, even if you got it from someone else.
What is currently most exciting to you about your business? (What new product/service/item?)
As a way of giving back to the community any activations that are activated in the month of April, we are willing to wave you activation fee. Most carriers charge and frown at waving activations fees, but we feel it is a way of giving back to our friends and family of Oyster Bay.
